The Clean-Up Begins

Well, here we are: the morning after the night before once again. I suppose the next several days will tell the tale of what has transpired and what we can really expect with the death of campaign rhetoric.

Have we taken the national checkbook out of the hands of the spoiled, irresponsible children who stole it from their mother’s purse four years ago and bankrupted the country? Or have we simply replaced old faces with new, fresh ones to suck out the last few remaining drops of our blood?

Many would expect moods to be ecstatic and exuberant this morning after a conservative victory in the House of Representatives and a sound wake-up call in the Senate to leftist socialists who reigned there. But they are not.

I believe that the general mood across the land this morning is that of a street fighter who is still standing after the fray but worse for the wear nonetheless. No one wins a fist fight; just one side gets beat up worse than the other.

And the American people are still standing but near beat to death. There is not much to celebrate this morning other than we survived another night in the ring and are here to look forward into the uncertain future before us with the “thousand-yard stare.”

While the President and his groupies try to convince us that “the recession is over,” reality is not bearing that out. All things being equal and fairly assessed, we have not quite reached the bottom of it yet.

Any significant signs of recovery are far off in the distance; possibly as far out as 2014 or beyond. That being the case, there is not much inspiration to put on party hats and blow noise makers over yesterday’s election returns.

We have been “hoped” until it hurts and “changed” until we’re choked. The general mood of the country this morning is:

“Yeah, yeah, yeah, we hear what you’re sayin’, but we’re watchin’ what you’re doing. If you fail to make that popping sound, the one your head makes when extracted from your backside, you too, will be a former Senator or Representative at the first opportunity.”

Last night’s winners had better understand that with sober clarity; whether newbies or returned incumbents. The American people are sick and tired of going around and around in circles with you people. There is no play left in us.

Not a single member of Congress has one iota of job security this morning and those that think they do are too ignorant to hold office or are complete fools. This applies to the left, right and in-betweeners equally.

We, collectively as a nation, are no longer going to foot the bill for your insanity. We are weary of being condescended to and thought stupid. We are not.

The only reason we have tolerated this arrogance this long is because we were so distracted making more money to give to Congress to throw down ever increasing numbers of new black holes. No more, folks, we’re done with it.

Let your Marxist keepers; Soros, Gates, Buffet and the global elitists et al, take a vow of poverty and donate all their wealth to these sinkholes if they want it all so badly. I am holding my breath until that happens – NOT.

* The Federal Reserve is nothing but an organized crime syndicate to launder tax money into the coffers of wealthy socialist globalists. It needs to be abolished now, not tabled for future discussion that never happens. It needs to go now; today.

* No more bailouts to any private sector entities: this is just another laundering mechanism to separate the taxpayer from their money and put it into the pockets of the globalists and labor union bosses to be used against us in the future by under-the-table election contributions. It is theft by unlawful taking and theft by deception.

* Kill the health care reform bill dead in it’s tracks before it inflicts any more damage onto our broken economy. It was foisted upon us against our majority will by the socialists seeking to capture more permanent votes looked-in by government-owned unions.

Universal health care would be great in a perfect world, but we do not live in one. Utopia is an illusion perpetrated in Marxism; it does not and cannot exist by the very essence of human nature.

* Expanding government is not job creation, it is only increasing our nation tax burden. Reduce government, reduce taxes and let the private sector do what they do best – create new jobs through expansion and new start-ups.

* Abolish the IRS and the Federal income tax. It is unconstitutional – it circumvents life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness and cripples the initiative of entrepreneurship. It’s absurd and vile in its very nature; aside from the fact that it is illegal.

* Either we have a national, enforced immigration law or we don’t. You can’t be a little bit pregnant. If our federal government either can’t or won’t secure our borders against the invasion we are experiencing, get out of the state’s way to protect themselves. Period. End of story.

States have every right to expect the federal government to protect them from this onslaught, they are paying for it with their tax dollars. If the federal government fails them, they retain the right to succeed from the union, guaranteed in the constitution, if their welfare is in jeopardy. Congress and the president know this but continue to ignore their cries.

Now is the time for swift, definitive action on this matter. States are being overrun by armed gangs of criminals inciting anarchy in our midst. They have taken over areas of states and now have turned them into lawless regions within our national boundaries.

What exactly is it going to take for Washington to take action (besides bringing lawsuits against those that would stop in the absence of federal help)? The closest we have seen them come to action is a push to make criminals (illegal aliens) naturalized citizens en mass.

What kind of message is that sending to the rest of the world? Sneak in without getting caught and you can be one of us without going through the formality of legal citizenship required by legal immigrants? Is that really the message we want to send the world?

* As long as there has been standing armies on earth, there have been homosexuals in the military. And always will be. I find no cause they should be granted special dispensation because of it.

Gays in the military is a non-starter in concept. The federal law (Uniform Code of Military Justice) says it is a no-go. It is illegal. Period. End of story. It’s the law.

No state, federal or supreme court justice has authority to legislate a change to that law from the bench. Nor can they override it by virtue of their personal opinion or agenda. They are jurists not legislators.

That change must be done by the Congress who is empowered by the constitution to pass the laws that govern our military. Justices only have authority to enforce existing laws.

Along the same lines, it is the business of individual states to handle issues of marriage within their borders. The Federal government has no justification to set policy and laws pertaining to such. This is another non-starter on the Federal level.

In light of the larger picture we have in front of us, I consider issues on homosexuality to be of small import nationally because they represent a very small portion of the population overall. We have much, much bigger fish to fry than deciding who sleeps with whom. These are state decisions and the Feds need to stay out of our bedrooms.

This piece could go and on through perpetuity I suppose and still not cover half of what we are facing. But I believe it’s a fair assessment of some key areas that need to be addressed yesterday if not sooner.

Again, congratulations to all conservative winners in the election, but that was yesterday. It’s already old news today and we are watching our state and national capitols with anticipation of what is soon to follow.

Do the best you can folks, but remember, do the best you can for your constituents and not for yourself. The next election is just around the corner…

To Vote or Not To Vote, That Is The Question

This is a re-post from one of my favorite bloggers,  Seth Godin with a message to all voters; left and right.I hope everyone who sees this post takes heed of it and exercises their right to vote.

Voting, misunderstood

This year, fewer than 40% of voting age Americans will actually vote.

A serious glitch in self-marketing, I think.

If you don’t vote because you’re trying to teach politicians a lesson, you’re tragically misguided in your strategy. The very politicians you’re trying to send a message to don’t want you to vote. Since 1960, voting turnouts in mid-term elections are down significantly, and there’s one reason: because of TV advertising.

Political TV advertising is designed to do only one thing: suppress the turnout of the opponent’s supporters. If the TV ads can turn you off enough not to vote (“they’re all bums”) then their strategy has succeeded.

The astonishing thing is that voters haven’t figured this out. As the scumminess and nastiness of campaigning and governing has escalated and the flakiness of candidates appears to have escalated as well, we’ve largely abdicated the high ground and permitted selfish partisans on both sides to hijack the system.

Voting is free. It’s fairly fast. It doesn’t make you responsible for the outcome, but it sure has an impact on what we have to live with going forward. The only thing that would make it better is free snacks.

Even if you’re disgusted, vote. Vote for your least unfavorite choice. But go vote.

Down To The Wire On Election Eve

Don't Drink the Koolaide!

All meetings have been held, all speeches have been made and now it is time to decide our fate as a nation. We sit on the edge of a great crevice. Will we turn back away from it or plunge ourselves over the edge into oblivion?

The liberal left has controlled both Houses of Congress for the last four years. They can scream and shout about obstruction from conservatives all they want, but we all know that is a falsehood.

Here is a quick review of what the liberal left has done for (to) us over the last four years:

Remember this legacy when you step into the booth to vote tomorrow. You are the only chance we have left to turn this mess around.

It bears repeating; when Democrats took control of Congress in January 2007, unemployment was 4.6%. Now, after four years of their harebrained policies, unemployment is somewhere between 9.6% — 17%.

Vote your conscience and good luck on the outcome.

Sunday’s Calm Before Tuesday’s Storm?

Obama campaigningBy abandoning his own rhetoric of bipartisanship, did President Obama divide America and set the course for a heavy Democratic defeat in Tuesday’s midterm elections? Yes he did, argues Toby Harnden.

All rhetoric aside, the simple mathematics of the economic climate do not bear out what the Democrats as touting as their achievements.
