There is a special kind of loneliness that only a soldier in the field understands on holidays like Christmas. It is not so much a sad kind of thing as it is a gift kind of thing. It is a feeling you cannot understand unless you have stood that watch.

It is a gift of love for those at home whose safety is purchased by sacrifice. It is a gratitude that this duty station is far from home; as are the battles being waged there.

This group is Canadian by nationality but universal by nature. Soldiers are soldiers, no matter where they call home.

And let’s not forget the amazing woman he calls his wife, Crystal. She has sacrificed for her country both as a Marine herself and as the spouse of an injured warrior.
